Yes — and critically important to note, NOT all lasers are equal. Devices like the IPL or older alexandrite lasers can cause burns on darker skin. At Solskin, we exclusively use Diode 808nm and Nd:YAG 1064nm lasers that are specifically calibrated for Fitzpatrick skin types IV–VI (most Indian skin types). These are US-FDA approved and our outcomes are consistently excellent and safe.

For general maintenance and preventive care, a visit every 3-6 months is recommended. At these visits we screen for early signs of sun damage, mole changes, and premature ageing, and can tweak your home skincare regimen proactively. If you have active concerns (acne, pigmentation, hair loss), treatment sessions are typically every 3-4 weeks.

The procedure itself is done under local anesthesia and is essentially painless. For the first 7-10 days you will have scabbing and some mild swelling — most patients return to desk work in 2-3 days. The transplanted hair sheds in the first 4-6 weeks (this is completely normal), and permanent new growth begins around months 3-4, with full results typically visible by month 9-12.

A standard PRP protocol involves 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, followed by quarterly maintenance sessions. The number varies based on the grade of hair loss. Many treatments can be combined in a single visit, e.g., a laser toning session followed by a hydrating medi-facial. However, certain aggressive treatments (like deep chemical peels and fractional laser) should not be combined to avoid overwhelming the skin's recovery capacity.
